Wild Flowers was born over 15 years ago after owner, Kerry had completed her Degree in Floral Design at Myerscough College. After switching careers from the Banking sector after the birth of her son, Sam, Kerry needed a creative outlet in her life and started doing Flower arranging at night school. Completely fell in love with it, walked into work, gave up her Executive role and never looked back. It was a huge weight off her shoulders to not be confined to the hamster wheel of targets and profits. She embarked on a national certificate in Floristry at The Welsh College of Horticulture and also completed an advanced certificate qualification too. She relocated back to her home town of Wigan, when her son started school she carried on her studies in floristry by attending Myerscough College, part of Lancaster University where she took a 3 year degree course in floral design. In her final year she bought Wild Flowers.

Along with the shop came Diane who is an experienced florist and a human satnav. Norma, is Kerry’s Aunt who was medically retired when she bought the shop and came along to help, 15 years in she still with us and is an integral part of the team, often found dancing around and singing (badly, but we don’t care). Holly came for work experience when studying at Wigan college and we have never got rid of her! Super Scouse, with Italian flair, she’s fluent but it hasn’t rubbed off on us yet. She has picked up the floristry gene so quickly and loves to learn new skills. Treena first trained as a florist over 20 years ago whilst working as a bank manager, she came on a Christmas wreath class and stayed with us. Katie came on board in the Summer of 2022 as our apprentice and has become a great asset to our team, especially with her extensive plant knowledge. Supported by our fabulous delivery drivers June and Bill and an amazing network of busy floristry bee’s who are either previous workers or friends of Wild Flowers who like to help out at our busiest times.

Our style has evolved over time and we have developed into the shop we know and love today for it’s natural, wild country style with a twist of the unusual. Kerry became a member of the esteemed International Florist association “Chapel Designers” in 2017 and 2018. She continues to grow her knowledge on that higher level. Attending workshops and events with other high profile Florists. We have been developing our workshop program after annually our Christmas Wreath classes sold out over and over again. Every year we now teach over 100 Students how to create their own gorgeous wreath in the run up to Christmas. We have designed and taught many other classes throughout the year also. We even go offsite to teach Hen parties and other events. Our programme includes other brilliant creatives sharing their knowledge by teaching skills in our shop from modern Calligraphy, lino printing, felting, painting, macrame, hand sewing, jewellery making and crochet. In December 2019 we opened our custom built workshop space above the flower shop for all our classes and introduced a programme of events throughout 2023.

Our ethos remains the same, to provide good quality flowers for gifts, events and life celebrations that you can’t buy elsewhere and to love what we do. It’s not work, it’s just life.
