Felt making with Catherine Carmyllie

Led by Artist Catherine Carmyllie, this workshop will guide you through the steps of designing, planning, rolling techniques for felt and making your own wet felted beads from wool and silk.

Felting is a relaxing & creative activity which produces a very distinctive stylised look. Felted beads are still hand made by Nepalese women in large scale quantities, an ancient textile skill used then to make clothing, rugs and house hold items. How happy friends and family will be to receive a gift which is totally handmade!

No previous experience necessary. Choose from 20 merino wool colours or mix together to produce your own shades. Ideal for a creative beginner or somebody with more experience looking to practice their skills.

You will also learn how best to string them together to produce either a necklace which you will finish the ends to make it adjustable - or a garland string around 1m long to decorate your christmas tree or home.

All materials and equipment provided. Age 12 upwards. Tea & coffee/biscuits provided.
